Senior officials of WW&S, addressed the Standing Committee of the Somaliland House of Elders, to report on the state of education in the country.

Minister of Education and Science Md. Ahmed Mohamed Diriye Torno, Director General of WW&S Mr. Ahmed Abokor Mohamed, addressed the Standing Committee of the Somaliland House of Elders, to report on the state of education in the Republic of Somaliland.

 

The Minister and the Director General were accompanied by the Directors of Departments. Department of Education Assets, Administration and Finance and Director of Human Resources at MOE&S.

 

THESE POINTS REPORTED INCLUDED:

1. The quality and promotion of education in the country

2. Educational assets, such as land and school supplies

3. A new scholarship from Ethiopia to 450 students

4. Construction, renovation and beautification of public school facilities

5. Training of national teachers

6. Distribute free textbooks to schools across the country

7. Good governance and the establishment of district education committees

8. Non-educational settlements to build schools

9. Launch of the National Education Development Fund of the Republic of Somaliland.

 

Conclusion The Standing Committee of the House of Elders of the Republic of Somaliland questioned the Minister and the Director General in their report.
