NEWS: MEETING OF OFFICERS OF THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND WFP.A meeting was held today at the Office of the Minister of Education Md. Ahmed Mohamed Diriye Toorno was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of WW&S Md. Abdihakim Saed Muse, the Director of the wellbeing Department, the Director of Planning, Heads of the Minister's Office and the Minister's advisers, in this meeting between the Ministry of Education and the senior officials of the United Nations Office in Hargeisa and Nairobi.
A meeting was held and the following issues were discussed.
1. That the WFP has received a budget for the school feeding program for 154 schools in rural Somaliland which stopped 5 months ago due to the lack of funds faced by the WFP due to the economic situation in the world.
The student nutrition program will be fed to 28,028 students who attend 154 schools in Somaliland for a period of 5 months until 31.5.2023.
2. The Ministry of Education, WFP and education stakeholders will work together to "create an Education Development Fund" jointly funded and managed by the central government of Somaliland, local governments, Somaliland businessmen, expatriates and Somaliland donors who support education. , that fund will cover the overall development of education in Somaliland.
3. Evaluating the effectiveness of the student nutrition program in terms of learning will be the basis of an evidence-based plan.
4. To have regular information sharing between the Ministry of Education and the WFP agency so that the appropriate decision can be made in a timely manner.
