GPE Project Review Conference Opens in Berbera
Berbera (04, January 2025) The State Minister of the Ministry of Education, Nurture, and Science of Somaliland, Mr. Mohamed Yusuf Ibrahim (Faacuul), accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry, Mr. Abdirahman Hussein Haaji Hirsi, today officially opened the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Project Review Conference. The project, which is supported by Somaliland through donor countries, is being implemented by the international organisation Save the Children International (SCI).
The two-day conference was held in Berbera and was attended by
Deputy Governor of Sahil Region
Mayor of Berbera City
Sahil Region Education Officer
Chairman of the National Examinations Office (JSL)
Directors of the Ministry of Education Departments
Heads of Save the Children International
Other organisations are working with the Ministry in the field of education.
Purpose of the Conference:
This conference is important for assessing the progress and reviewing the GPE project plan to strengthen the quality of education in Somaliland. The focus will be on:
Assessing the achievements made during the project
Addressing the challenges faced by the project during its implementation
And preparing a plan for the coming period.
The authorities and participants expressed their commitment to strengthening the education system to enable more students to have access to quality education opportunities.
The conference is expected to conclude with effective decisions to improve education in the country.
